Script description
The planes over your house, live on the clock. A green radar sweeps around your home and lights up every aircraft it passes; next to it the flight and where it is going, FRA→JFK. Press the middle button for the side view, where high jets pull contrails across a sky that follows the real sun, or for the card with the airline's tail colours, type, height, distance and speed.
The clock speaks up when something worth looking up flies by:
| Alert | When |
|---|---|
| Overflight | a plane passes closer and lower than you set (3 km, 3000 m) |
| Rare | A380, 747, Beluga, Antonov giants and military aircraft |
| Emergency | squawk 7700, 7600 or 7500 nearby |
| Watchlist | your callsigns, registrations or types, e.g. DLH400, D-ABYA |
An alert brings the app forward with that plane's card and its own short tune, and can read the flight aloud. While the display is off the clock stays quiet, unless you switch on Alerts when dark. Turn the knob to pick another plane, press it to refresh. Metric or aviation units, range up to 50 km.
Enter your latitude and longitude in the settings, that is all; no sound files needed. The positions come from adsb.lol, free and without an account.
Your own ADS-B receiver: SkyWatch also reads readsb, tar1090 and dump1090-fa directly. Put the address of its aircraft.json under Own receiver, e.g. pi.local/tar1090/data/aircraft.json, and the clock shows what your own antenna hears, with Refresh down to 5 seconds.
Flight data © adsb.lol contributors (ODbL), routes from adsbdb.com.
