Script description

The falling-block classic, rebuilt for a 52x16 matrix: title screen, ghost piece, line-clear fireworks, a chiptune bed and a high score that survives a restart.

Panel: 52x16 · Opened from the clock's menu, not the rotation

The game

A 10 x 16 well at one pixel a block, centred on the panel. The score and level
sit on the left, the next piece on the right at double size, and a drifting
starfield fills what is left.

  • Ghost piece — a dim outline where the piece will land
  • Lock delay — a moment to slide a piece into place once it touches down
  • Seven-piece bag — every shape turns up once before any repeats
  • Speed-up — a level every ten lines, and the music gets faster with it
  • Scoring — 100 / 300 / 500 / 800 a clear, times the level; combos and a
PERFECT bonus for an empty well

Effects

Cleared rows burst outward from the middle and the panel shakes harder for a
bigger clear. DOUBLE, TRIPLE, TETRIS, COMBO, PERFECT and LEVEL banners cross the
panel in rainbow letters. A hard drop leaves a streak behind it. When the stack
gets high the walls flash red. Game over floods the well from the bottom.

Controls

On the clock:

  • LEFT / RIGHT — move; hold to slide
  • SELECT — turn the piece
  • SELECT twice, quickly — hard drop

With a Bluetooth gamepad:

  • D-pad / left stick — move; down soft drop, up hard drop
  • A, X or R1 — turn; B turns back; Y hard drop
  • START — confirm in the menus

Hold SELECT on the clock to leave, as with any game.

Menu

Left and right step through PLAY, LEVEL (the level you start at, 1 to 9),
BEST and QUIT; select picks. After game over, select plays again and
left or right goes back to the menu.

Settings

  • Sound effects (on) — moves, turns, drops, one fanfare per clear size
  • Music (on) — Korobeiniki, in two voices
  • Announce a Tetris (on) — says "Tetris" on a four-line clear
  • Ghost piece (on)

The best score and the start level are kept on the clock.
