Script description

A mountain village in a snow globe on the TC002. Shake the globe and the snow whirls up, comes loose from the roofs and settles again, flake by flake, on the roofs, the firs and the fences. Turn the knob to go in close: at eight times you look through a window with its curtains and candles, and the people of the village are as tall as the screen.

Controls

  • Turn the knob right or left: go in closer (2x, 4x, 8x) to what is happening, or back out.
  • Press: shake the globe. Press again quickly to shake it harder.
  • Hold: follow one of the people. Hold again to let go.
  • SELECT: the globe on its stand, with the time and the countdown to Christmas.
  • SELECT twice: the next tune on the music box.
  • Left alone, a tour goes in close now and then and out again.

Up close

  • Tiled roofs, slate, half-timbering, boards, stone and brick.
  • Windows with curtains and candles at night, coloured glass in the church.
  • The tower clock, its hands at their true angles.
  • Snow lying in caps, icicles under the eaves, footprints in the snow.

The people
Ten people and a dog live their day by the real time:

  • they shovel snow, build a snowman (it stays until it thaws outside), go sledging, skate and have snowball fights;
  • they meet at the Christmas market, and carol singers stand by the tree (go close, and you hear them);
  • a lamplighter comes out at dusk. At night the village sleeps.

Shake the globe and they all stumble.

The snow

  • 420 flakes: in the air, lying in the village, or at the bottom of the globe. Never more nor less.
  • The real weather from Open-Meteo, every 15 minutes, no key needed: snowfall, wind, fog and temperature.
  • The snow and the snowman are kept over a restart.

Christmas
From the first Sunday of Advent to 6 January:

  • the tree on the square, the market, lights along the eaves, the Advent wreath with its candles, music-box carols;
  • on Christmas Eve, Santa Claus lands on every roof, climbs down the chimneys and leaves presents under the tree;
  • on New Year's Eve, the village counts down the last ten seconds and the rockets go up.

And more, on other days of the year and now and then, that you will have to find yourself. Set your birthday, and the village celebrates it.

Sound
All from the TC002's synthesizer, no files:

  • a music box with carols in the public domain;
  • the same carols sung by the carol singers;
  • winter wind;
  • the glass when you shake it, the church bell, sleigh bells, rockets.

Settings

  • Latitude and Longitude, for the sun, the moon and the weather.
  • Real weather.
  • Music, Sounds, Ambience.
  • Bells at night.
  • Christmas: auto, on or off.
  • In the rotation: tour or panorama.
  • Birthday.
  • Language: English or German.
